How to deal with this problem
This is an issue society has been struggling with for years, to save money or to benefit the students. It is extremely costly to downsize schools. There would have to be more teachers and schools, which means more electrical bills and salaries to pay. However without changing the actual size of a graduating class within a school, there are other options.
One of the main reasons why students in larger school settings develop depression is because they feel like they aren’t special and they are just another student.
Suggestion #1
Create more clubs within the school and encourage students to create their own. Schools could host recruiting days where all of the clubs advertise their purpose and tell students when and where their meetings are. All clubs could also be required to allow anyone to join without having to tryout.
"Paul and White (1990) examined extracurricular activity participation and
academic achievement in a senior high school setting. They found that
extracurricular activities and academic performance were highly correlated. They
supported the hypothesis stated by Mynell (2004) more involvement in school
activities means a better grade point average" (The Effect of Social Factors on Students' Academic Performance in Nigerian Tertiary Institutions).

Suggestion #2
Parents can play a role in this as well, by getting involved in their children’s lives, they show that they care. Sitting around the dinner table every night or having the kids do their homework in the kitchen lets them know there is someone there for them (19 Minutes). When parents monitor their children, they can become more aware of certain effects such as alcohol and drug abuse.
Suggestion #3
Schools could also develop a support class for one hour every day. It could just be a class where students get to know everyone in the class. This would allow all students in the school to be noticed and to get involved. Classes such as home room provide for new and better connections between students and teachers (Benefits of Homeroom).
